In 2007 the ADVANCE Program, GREAT Program, and School-Based Programs Unit joined together to more effectively serve our youth.  The Hall County Sheriff's Office ADVANCE and G.R.E.A.T. programs complies with the standards of quality Georgia education.

The ADVANCE (Avoiding Drugs Violence and Negative Choices Early) program complies with the National Health Standards for drug education and has been used as a template for the Georgia Sheriff's Association CHAMPS education model. In addition, the GREAT (Gang Resistance Education and Training) program is developed by Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Administration and is highly effective with middle-school students.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office School-Based Programs Unit offers proactive strategies to enhance protective factors for young people. Strategies include emphasis on development of social competence, conflict resolution, and positive alternatives to drugs, violence, and gangs. In addition, information of personal safety, stranger-danger, Internet safety, and water safety through lessons facilitated in elementary and middle schools.

We take great pride in the service of our students.  If you have any questions about all our school-based programs, contact Lieutenant Gene Joy at (770) 533-7806 or e-mail Lieutenant Joy at GeneJoy@hallcounty.org
